    Language of instruction: English and Latin

    The goal of the course is to help students achieve a deep comprehension of the most well-known hymns of the breviary/liturgy of the hours through guided exercises in translation from Latin to English. Participants will also explore the history, authorship, and revisions of these compositions. The unique characteristics of Christian Latin poetry and hymnody (vocabulary, grammar, meter, rhyme) will be discussed and analyzed.
